Rākau o te riri
Complete mere pounamu. There are five grooves on each side of the knob on the handle (proximal) ends. There are fainter grooves on either side across the perforation, which is offset since the two drill holes were not in line from either side. The distal end is rounded and sharp.
Complete patu onewa, with drill perforation. Butt curves inwards at the top. One side of the blade's edge has moderate chipping, with minor chipping along the rest of the lower edges.
Complete with no tau. Patu paraoa is in stable condition, however is severely weathered and cracked especially around the blade end. One side of the patu has two distinct and deep cut like markings on the blade portion. Perforation present at the handle, and appears to be drilled with an hour glass shape.
Complete patu paraoa. There is a rectangular perforation through the narrowest part of the patu, where the blade meets the proximal knob. There is a partial circular perforation at the proximal end on one side. There are chips along the distal edge.
Complete kotiate rakau. Geometric carvings on both sides of blade and handle with a face on the butt. There is a perforation on the handle with two smaller ones on the blade. Has chips on both sides.
Fragment of a patu onewa, handle remaining. Mid grey in colour. Surface is ground. Butt flares out with incomplete (unsymmetrical) ornamental grooves on the proximal end.
Fragment patu onewa with four ornamental grooves and has a drilled hole for the suspending cord. There is a red ink stain with surface scratches all over. No chips. Looks to be broken where the blade would have been.
Incomplete patu onewa, with bottom of blade missing. Drill perforation present. Patu is bruised all over and heavily chipped at the break.
Broken cast of patu, handle to lower blade remaining. Butt of handle is ornately decorated and carved. There are further carving on the blade. There is one visible repair where previously broken and re-plastered, as well as two breaks that have not been repaired, and at the broken edge there is a visible wire that runs the length of the patu internally, keeping the broken pieces together.
Patu paraoa is incomplete with handle and butt missing. One side (underside) has exposed and distinct cancellous bone. The opposite side has vertical cracks, cut marks (on an angle) and chipping present over the surface of the blade. Chipping also present around the blades point edge.
Broken patu onewa, butt remaining. Perforation at one end.
Complete Patu Onewa, with smooth finish to surfaces. Chips and wear apparent around edges and handle. Drilling of butt incomplete.
