Whether you would like it to be used for general purposes or to help achieve big projects, it will play an important role in helping us preserve and share the stories our objects tell about people, places, and history.

  • Making a donation in memory of a special person is a very meaningful way to honour them while supporting Tūhura. Bequests are a wonderful gift which keeps on giving. By including Tūhura in your Will, you can associate yourself forever with this much-loved museum and ensure that Tūhura will enrich the lives of future generations. You may like to seek legal advice to ensure all requirements are met to express your wishes.

  • The Otago Museum Trust Board is Registered Charity CC38158. You are entitled to a tax rebate if your donation is $5 or over, and you will receive a tax receipt for your records. Generally, 33.33% of your gift to a registered charity in New Zealand can be claimed back, but some conditions apply to donations from companies—please check with www.ird.govt.nz regarding tax credits for donations.

Your generous donation can be kept confidential or, if you prefer, be publicly acknowledged in a future Tūhura Otago Museum Annual Report.

  • Tūhura can accept cryptocurrency donations thanks to our partnership with The Giving Block in the USA.

    It’s a quick process

    1. Select your preferred cryptocurrency and enter your gift amount

    2. Press Donate

    3. Enter your email and details, or choose to give anonymously

    4. Complete your donation via your crypto wallet

Please note that for donors in New Zealand cryptocurrency gifts do not attract a tax rebate under the Income Tax Act 2007 because cryptocurrency is classified as property rather than cash. For donors outside New Zealand the tax treatment of cryptocurrency varies by country but in the USA there are benefits. Every donation counts and your generosity is hugely appreciated.
