Planning a School Visit
Learn more about the education programmes available at Tūhura Otago Museum, and how to prepare for your visit.
The Museum’s Education team offers a wide range of hands-on educational experiences outside the classroom, designed to align with current curriculum priorities and support classroom learning.
Education sessions run between 9am and 5pm on weekdays during school terms.
We are happy to tailor programmes to meet your specific learning outcomes and class needs.
Programme Duration
Gallery Programmes: 90 minutes (flexible)
Perpetual Guardian Planetarium Shows: 50 minutes (flexible)

| Visit to the Science Centre and Tropical Forest | $9 per student, 1 free adult per 6 students, extra adults $20 each |
| Planetarium show | $7 per student, 1 free adult per 6 students, extra adults $15 each |
| Science Centre & Planetarium combo | $13 per student, 1 free adult per 6 students, extra adults $25 each |
| Virtual delivery | Virtual delivery: $50 for 60 minutes (maximum one class) |
Preparing for Your Visit
We want your visit to run smoothly! Here's what you need to know:

Most of the Museum's spaces are wheelchair accessible. Further information about our facilities can be found on our Accessibility page.

Secondary: 1 adult per 10 students
Primary & Intermediate: 1 adult per 6 students
Early Childhood & Preschool: 1 adult per 4 children

All groups should enter through the main entrance and sign in at the Information Desk. You'll be asked to confirm your group size and student year levels.

We have limited bag storage. Please bring only essential items.

We cannot guarantee car parks, but there is bus parking at the Museum Reserve on Albany Street.
