Broken adze, Blade only The cross-section is trapezoidal with the back narrower than the front at the bottom of the blade and oval at the top of the blade. The surface is mainly ground with few flake scars. The sides are bruised. The bevel is demarcated by a ridge. The cutting edge is sharp and has a few chips.
Complete adze The cross-section is oval at both ends of the adze. The surface is bruised on the butt and ground on the blade. The sides are also bruised. No distinction between the butt and the blade. The bevel is demarcated by a small ridge. The cutting edge is sharp and has a few small chips.
Complete adze The cross-section is lenticular at both ends of the adze. The surface is mostly ground. There is a few flake scars. No distinction between butt and blade. No distinction between butt and blade.
Broken adze, Butt only The cross-section is trapezoidal with the back narrower than the front at the bottom of the butt and circular at the top of the butt. The surface is mostly ground on the top of the blade and bruised on the butt and sides. There is flake scars on the adze. The front is reduced by a shoulder.
Complete Trapezoidal with back narrower than front. Front of blade is ground with bruising around poll and outer edges. Back of blade is bruised with some flake scarring. Bevel portion is mostly ground. Slight differentiation between blade and butt. Slight reduction to shoulder however not yet distinct. Bevel is continuous on blade. Cutting edge curved and sharp.
Complete adze. Oval at poll, plano-convex (front flattened) at blade. Surface is ground with some bruising and flaking on sides and butt. Butt has major differentiation, sides have been reduced. Bevel is demarcated by a faint ridge. Cutting edge is smooth, sharp and curved.
Complete stone gouge. The cross section is circular. The surface is ground with flaking on the cutting edge. The bevel is continuous with the blade. The cutting edge is curved ad blunt.
