Complete adze. Stone. Dark grey. Cross-section is rectangular. Surface is mostly flaked, ground on lower blade with some bruising on lower blade sides. Minor differentiation between butt and blade, sides taper towards poll and front slopes towards poll. Bevel is demarcated by a line, cutting edge is sharp and curved. "Waitaki" written on front.
Complete adze. Stone. Mid grey. Cross-section is triangular with apex to front, cross-section becoming trapezoidal with front narrower than towards cutting edge. Surface is ground on lower blade, flaked on other surfaces. Minor differentiation between butt and blade, front reduced forming small shoulder. Bevel is demarcated by a line, cutting edge is sharp and curved. "W" written on back. "Waitaki" written on front.
Complete adze Cross-section is rectangular Surface is mostly ground with rough areas. Flaked on lower proper left side. Minor differentiation between butt and blade, sides reduced to form shoulder. Bevel is continuous with blade, cutting edge is sharp and straight, chipped.
Complete adze. White stone. Slender rectangular cross-section. The surface is flaked. There are shoulders on the sides of the blade and a reduction in the stone to form the butt. There is no obvious bevel, the blade ends at a thin edge.
Complete adze Cross-section is oval Surface is mostly bruised, some ground areas. No differentiation between butt and blade. Sides taper towards poll. Bevel is continuous with blade. Cutting edge is sharp and curved.
Complete adze. Light grey stone. Oval cross-section. The surface is flaked and bruised, with a large flake scar on the proper right of the back of the butt. There is no distinction between the butt and the blade. There is no bevel, the adze has a blunt end.
Complete adze. Brownish grey stone with three small patches of lighter brown. The cross-section is oval. The surface is lightly bruised. There is a very slight extra reduction in the sides of the butt as the sides taper towards the poll. There is an indication of a bevel with a slope towards the cutting edge. The cutting edge is blunt and rounded.
Incomplete adze. Light brown. Rectangular cross-section. The surface is ground and bruised, with an unworked section on one side of the butt. There is a small shoulder on one side of the blade that distinguishes it from the butt. There is no bevel end, the broken end is flaked.
Broken adze (butt remaining) Cross-section is oval Surface is ground. No differentiation between butt and blade, sides taper towards poll. Blade not present.
Complete rough out Cross-section is rectangular Surface is flaked. No differentiation between butt and blade, sides taper towards poll. Bevel and cutting edge unfinished.
Incomplete adze, bevel end only. White, very light brown stone.Oval cross-section. The surface is flaked and bruised. There is no bevel, the front and back of the blade meet together in a blunt end.
Broken adze, poll end only. Light grey stone. The cross-section is oval. The surface is flaked and bruised. There is no distinction between the butt and the blade. The sides of the blade narrow towards the poll. The poll is flaked and irregular. The broken end forms a concave slope.
