Adze, Toki
Broken adze (fragment of lower blade missing from proper left). Stone. Mid grey, light grey, dark grey. Cross-section of butt is oval, cross-section of blade is trapezoidal with back narrower than front with rounded corners. Surface is ground down back, and lower blade, bruised on upper blade and butt. Minor differentiation between butt and blade, front and sides slightly reduced. Bevel is continuous with blade, cutting edge is sharp and curved, large fragment missing from proper left, and small chip from proper right. "Papanui" written on front.
