Kete

Kete Whiri (bag with a central braid). Woven with a combination of takitahi (over one, under one) and takirua (over two, under two) patterns. The bottom of this kete is made by braiding strands into a whiri (braid). Weaving is then extended from either side which forms the base. The bag was then woven from the bottom up before being completed in an internal three ply whiri (braid) around the rim. Two four ply round whiri (braids) have been added as handles. Inside the bag is a segment of weaving with decorative florishes.
