Kete

Kete Houhere (Bag made with lacebark). Woven with whatu aho patahi (single-pair weft-twining). This kete was woven from the bottom up. Black and white chicken feathers decorate the body in alternating rows. A woven tapiki (finish) completes this kete with whenu (strands) being discarded internally before being trimmed. Two Houhere cords made via the miro (rolling) technique act as handles.
