Papahou
Complete waka huia made of totara. Dark brown in colour. Rectangular in shape and in cross section. Box has a human head figure projecting off of each end for suspension; one of the figures has just one eye carved. The bodies of the figures are carved on the bottom of the box, connecting to another smaller human figure in the centre. A carved ridge runs around the box edge, decorated with geometric patterns. The interior is smooth and undecorated. The box has been reinforced with a metal piece attached at each end of the interior with two screws. The lid has a squared off projection at each end. The exterior side of the lid is carved in a curved rauponga (ridge and triangular notch) and rauru (spiral) pattern, while the interior side is undecorated.
