Kete Whiri, a basket woven from an internal base braid, in this case two braids have been used to increase the functional size of this kete. Woven in takitahi pattern (over one, under one) with a flat bottom adaptation. Finished with an internal whiri (braid) around the internal brim before whenu (strands are trimmed). X2 round four whiri (braids) have been threaded into the weaving to act as handles. Huia smith is a Dunedin weaver with Nga Puhi Whakapapa.
