Patu rakau

Complete patu rakau. The butt has a knob with a projection on one side. Handle is tapered to the proximal end. A longitudinal ridge runs down the centre of the patu on one side, from the butt to the distal end of the blade. Shoulders where the butt meets the blade, demarcated by two curved carvings, meeting at the longitudinal ridge. Blade is elongated, tapering to a rounded point at the distal end. Perforation at the distal end of the blade, drilled from both sides. Sides edges of the blade are heavily chipped and weathered.
