Adze, Toki

Complete adze. Oval cross-section at butt, quadrangular at the bevel end. The surface is mostly ground with bruising on the sides and butt. There is a chip on the poll. The butt is differentiated from the blade by a curved line of bruising, and there is a reduction in the sides of the front of the butt. The bevel is continuous with the blade but demarcated on the sides by oblique ridges. The cutting edge is chipped. There is a piece of paper adhered to the front of the blade that reads: "Otekura near Port Molyneux"
