Koruru, Tekoteko, Figure, Cast
Plaster cast of a koruru or tekoteko figure, from the gable of a wharenui. Painted black. Head carved at the distal end with ruru/owl shaped eyes with nose, lips, and a tongue cut off horizontally at the distal edge. Proximal portion is made of a rectangular slab of wood with a perforated geometric carving projecting from the front. Two perforations at the proximal end with a piece of twisted wire tied through it. Back is undecorated with chisel marks evident.
