Adze, Toki

Large complete adze. Dark grey stone. Triangular cross-section. The surface is flaked and bruised.The butt is differentiated from the blade by a reduction in the stone on the front, making one distinct shoulder in the centre. The bevel is long and slightly curved, and demarcated by an irregular ridge on the blade. The cutting edge is narrow and blunt. The front of the bevel end of the blade is triangular, shaped by ridges either side. There is some red colouring on the front of the butt.
