Broken adze. Cross-section is rectangular. Surface is mostly ground on front, ground on bevel, bruised on sides and around front edges, and back. Butt not present. Bevel is demarcated by a line, and surface change from ground to bruised. Cutting edge is sharp and curved, chipped on proper right and proper left edges of cutting edge. "Kaikoura" written on front.
