Adze, Toki

Large unfinished adze. Grey stone. Trapezoidal cross-section with the back narrower than the front. The surface is mostly ground with flaking and bruising at the butt and flaking on the cutting edge. There is no distinction between the butt and the blade. The sides of the blade taper in from the cutting edge towards the poll. The bevel is demarcated by an irregular and protruding ridge and a flake scar on the proper right. The cutting edge is heavily flaked and asymmetrical.
