Adze, Toki

Complete unfinished adze. Black phonolite. Quadrangular cross-section. The surface is ground on the blade and bruised and flaked on the butt and back of the blade. There is major differentiation between the butt and the blade. There is a distinct but irregular shoulder and a reduction in the stone on the sides and front of the butt. The bevel is demarcated by a line. The cutting edge is curved and has a few chips.
