Patu paraoa
Spatulate in shape, tapering to narrow neck - slight shoulders - which then expands to proximal end which is convex. Perforated - off centre. Drilled at an angle - probably from both sides, hole relatively straight. Small, shallow groove above perforation on each side. Small flaw in bone above perforation on one side and down length of blade on other side - latter filled in with yellow substance. Complete patu paraoa with drilled perforation on butt. Butt is curved with no present carving. Deep vertical groove is present at the very top of butt. Surface appears smooth with subtle cracking running vertically down the patu. Underside has some yellow adhesive material running vertically down blade, possibly to fill in a deep crack.
