Waka huia
Waka huia made from porokaiwhiri. Dark brown in colour. Shape is an elongated oval and cross section is half-circular. There is a projection on one end of the box carved in a human head figure; the other end has broken off. Lid is flattened on the bottom and has a notched projection on one end, broken off on the other end. The exterior sides of both the lid and box are divided into quadrants with a rauponga (ridge and triangular notch) pattern. The interior sides of both the lid and box are smooth and undecorated.
