Te Kohinga Taoka Māori

Collection Record

Adze, Toki

Complete adze. The cross section is rectangular. The surface of the front of the blade and the bevel is ground while the butt and the back of the blade are bruised. There is major differentiation between the butt and the blade as the change is obvious due to the change of surface as well as the two sides both tapering in towards the poll. The blade is demarcated by a ridge at the chin that separates the ground surface of the bevel from the bruised of the blade. The cutting edge is straight and sharp with only a few minor flakes.
