Collection Record

Adze, Toki

Complete adze. The cross section of the blade is rectangular while the cross section of the butt is oval. The surface is flaked but the bevel and the front of the blade are ground. There is very minor differentiation between the butt and the blade as the proper right hand side tapers in towards the poll after a slightly raised shoulder. The bevel is demarcated by an irregular ridge and the change of surface from ground to flaked. The cutting edge is straight and sharp with some flaking.
