Stick, Walking, Tokotoko
Complete tokotoko. The distal portion of the tokotoko is uncarved. Everything above 34cm is finely carved in a variety of patterns. After a section of mixed diagonal and longitudinal carved lines, there are stacked human figures. The lowest two are bilateral carved faces with notched paua shell inlay eyes. The figure at the proximal end is a full standing human figure with two slender legs, ending with carved buttocks and stomach with four fingered hands that meet on the stomach. The arms and chest are carved, as is the face. The eyes are inlaid with notched paua shell. There is a curved handle protruding from the back of the head that curves around and meets the tokotoko again at the back of the shoulders of the figure. There is a final human face here where the handle meets the shoulders that also has inlaid paua shell eyes and long carved lip.
