Adze, Toki

Complete adze. Cross-section is trapezoidal, with front narrower than back. Surface is flaked on back and sides, bruised on butt and sides of blade, ground down front of blade and bevel. Major differentiation between butt and blade, front heavily reduced after ridge at shoulder, lug at poll end. Bevel demarcated by a small ridge at chin, though bevel is lightly flaked. Cutting edge is sharp and curved, proper left side chipped off. "Left bank of Waitaki above Glenavy" written on front.
