Te Kohinga Taoka Māori

Collection Record

Adze, Toki

Complete adze. Dark brown stone. The cross-section is plano-convex with the front flattened. The surface is ground on the front of the blade on the bevel, and the rest is bruised and flaked. There is no distinction between the butt and the blade. The bevel is continuous with the blade in the centre, but there are ridges demarcating the sides of the bevel from the blade. The cutting edge is straight and sharp.
