Adze, Toki
Adze roughout. Grey and light brown stone. Surface is flaked. Cross-section is rectangular. No differentiation between butt and blade; sides slightly tapered towards poll. Bevel is continuous with the blade. Cutting edge is flaked and unfinished. "Clutha District" inscription on back. Attached tag reads "Unfinished Maori Axe Clutha District" on one side and "W.L.R." on the other.
