Adze, Toki
Stone adze blade. Cutting edge substantially chipped. Grey, with some black markings on upper half. Body of adze has quadrangular cross section. Majority of back, sides and front of blade are polished. Front of butt primarily hammerdressed. Marked transverse ridge on butt parallel to edge between blade and butt. Has stylistic affinities to some Canterbury adzes. Complete adze. Cross-section of blade is rectangular. Cross-section of butt is more semi-circular, back flattened. Surface is ground. Flaked at poll. Major differentiation between blade and butt. Front reduced and sides taper towards poll. Butt is demarcated by 2 ridges Bevel continuous with blade. Cutting edge is sharp and straight.
