Adze, Toki
Pounamu/ nephrite, kawakawa variety - dark green, mottled. Bird form. Left side and distal edge curve (stomach) Right side as platform-like projection with groove cut around proximal end forming a knob to tie off on. Ground on several planes Complete adze Cross section is rectangular. Surface is ground, except for areas of flaking. Minor differentiation between butt and blade. Back reduced. Bevel is continuous with blade. Cutting edge is sharp and curved. Small chip missing mid cutting edge
