Mentions Dr. Marett. Skinner refers to his Anthropology class and describes success of the recent Science Congress. Notes that membership of the Otago Institute and Association of Friends is rising and hopes this will add to funds for museum. Encloses print of tukutuku panels in the carved house "Matatua."

letter, 27/04/1935, Ian Ross, New College, Oxford to H D Skinner, Encloses two photographs taken in Scilly. Discusses photo of a megalithic grave, describes fragments of pottery found and surmises that this village had been buried in sand. Second photo is of a partly excavated hut (may have been open cooking enclosure) in a hillside village. Notes that "little systematic excavation" has occurred on Scilly and that there is much material left to discover. Refers to Leakey's book on "Adams Ancestors."
