letter, 01/02/1954 to H.D. Skinner, States six months ago Skinner wrote to him about a cave on a Queenstown hill found by Mr Howden of Ashburton, and if this cave may contain moa bones and asked if Fels could go have a look. Mr. R. Law and Fels went over Christmas holidays and found the cave on the North Western face of the hill. It appeared to be the remainant of a tremendous fault of comparatively recent times in the hillside. Mr Law decided some 30 feet into the cave that it could go down another forty to fifty feet. There was nothing inside the cave. Feels it will eventually fall onto Arthurs' Point road and hopes not to be underneath it when it does
