letter, 05/04/1954, Law, Collet, Utely, Trotter to H.D. Skinner, Concerning the Far Eastern Pre-Historic Association (F.E.P.A), New Zealand and Polynesian branch. Has written a series of letters to Council members about setting up local branches and wanting to set an example by form a New Zealand and Polynesian branch. Speaks about Beyer's report on the establishment in the Philippines and if such a formal constitution is needed, says it seems sufficient to organize a corresponding branch suggesting Skinner as the Chairman to invite qualified Anthropologists. Beyer has confined his invitations to archaeologists who have or are planning on working in the Far Eastern area, but feels should be slightly more lenient. Most members in Manila, Beyer's to include provisions for quarterly meetings, but the problem is if they can even arrange an annual one. Alternatively they could enrol people as both members of F.E.P.A and N.Z. Archaeological Association, which would require a formal constitution and subscription, an annual field camp is mentioned. In Japan, their members of the Japanese Archaeological Association automatically qualify for F.E.P.A, same for Australia. Asks to give the alternatives consideration. The following people are suggested to be members. Skinner as Chairman, Duff as Secretary-Treasurer, Teviotdale, Piddington and Powels (Samoa) as Honorary Members and the following as active members; Archey, Fisher, Mrs. Turbott, Phillips, Barrow, Yaldwyn, Adkin, Buchanan, Lockerbie, Freeman, Miss Harding, Eyles, Dawson, McEwen (Niue), Derrick (Fiji), Nevill (Rarotonga). Ask for list to be scrutinized and to add any names. First F.E.P.A newsletter set to go out in July.
