Min of Internal Affairs , permit required, can approve Weka and Pukeko. Noted Whitney Expedition of few years ago obtained "rarer birds in contempt of certain conditions ... to the disgust of naturalists of New Zealand." Dpt Internal affairs declined, do not export live specimens of tuatara and protected birds.
