letter, 17/06/1932, Kenneth Bernice Bishop Museum, Honolulu to H D Skinner, Letter in response to Skinner 4th of April letter. Thanks Skinner for sending the data on the adzes. Buck is teaching curators about how to re-lash an adze if they have damaged one. Buck is leaving for a year to be replaced by Handy. Talks about Lica cameras. Mentions getting paid $13,00 from Rockfeller and the French government had finally paid for the Mahina. Mentions that they are no longer buying expensive specimens, notes that the Marquesan bird was offered by Nordman for $80, while a Marquesan uhikana went to Auckland for 50 pounds. A barbed wooden spear of Skinners was identified as Hawaiian. Mentions Society Island genealogical material. Mentions James Cleveley view of Matavai bay but the two sailing canoes on the bay are Tongan and the ones on the beach are Tahitian - indicating that they cannot trust the old pictures.
