letter, 11/02/1933, H D Skinner to Kenneth and Marquerite, Bernice Bishop Museum, Honolulu, Thanks Kenneth for family photograph. He received cast of adze from Tahiti as part of exchange. Asks for casts of adzes brought back by Burrows, two from Manihiki collected by Buck, and one from Tokelau's secured by MacGregory in exchange for something in return. Mentioned that Kennedy sent two basalt adzes from Vaitapu in the Ellice Islands. He expresses his desire to correspond with Burrows and MacGregory. He discusses the quarrel that has developed between Kenneth and Stimson and cautions that he may try to do him harm. He goes on to talk about the Easter Island fish-hook, writing Dr. Wilder and Natur Brander about it, pricing, and Spits price for his two hooks. He mentions a visit to New Zealand by Zane Grey, Sutherland's return from Society Islands and the Australs, and the securing of a tureen-shaped Marquesan box through Russell that is like the waka-huia of the Maori as per Von den Steinen's example. In December and January he travelled with Teviotdale to Wellington to the Dominion Museum collection, then to Auckland, and on to Oruarangi Pa where Teviotdale stayed to excavate material with Hovell. He lists a variety of material typically found at the site. He went left Teviotdale and went back to Wellington for Christmas and New Plymouth. He goes on to talk about an umu he saw at Mt. Egmont, the Waverley excavation in Wanganui, and then concludes his letter talking about a chevroned adzing he found versus the spiral.
