letter, 02/06/1931, W Brown, Wanganui River Trust to H D Skinner, Description (and illustrations) of objects uncovered from a very old Maori (or maybe Melanesian) camp site: A long rata hook (possibly a gaffe), sinkers with the base chipped off, portion of a stone hammer, figures (kumara gods?) One with both man and bird face, another 'Negro' in appearance, comparable to Hawaiian work?, socketed timbers of a house frame. Asks for opinion on uses of objects and likely age of figures.
