Letter, 10/03/1938, Les Lockerbie to H D Skinner, Heaps of Mao bones still in the area. Area is about 12 miles from the place Mr Adam Harris found bones, on the seaward side of the ridge. Also peat bogs in the area and gizzard stones are to found in them. To date only worked a small area of Kings Rock. The lower layer contains Moa bones. Found a well preserves fire place, near it several hammer stones, greenstone adze, pieces of worked bone and a piece of flint. Have not disturbed fire place, photos enclosed. Enclose photo of skeleton found at Chasland's beach. Skeleton a few yards away from one found by Mr Teviotdale. It was buried, arms folded and knees drawn up, head raised and pointed to the ocean and Eastward. It is fairly complete, do you want me to dig it up and send it to you?
