Letter, 27/04/1937, H D Skinner to Burnett, Wanganui Museum, Fishing material exhibition arrived. Interested in hook made of basalt or andesite. This the first New Zealand one I have seen. Stern carving of model canoe has ben damaged. The knobbed sinker with human heads is a cast in cement of one in our collection. There are a number of such fakes. The Ruvettus shark hook is bound with coconut fibre not flax and is from either Ellis, Tokalaus or Manihiki. I will send the hook and sinker back
