Letter, 05/05/1937, James R Stewart to Dr A D Trendall, The British School at Rome, Progress report from Vounous. Working in the cemetery away from area explored by Louvre and Cyprus museum. Opened 36 tombs, all considerably smaller than larger opened tombs. Grave goods poorer than those from large tombs but have a series of fine bowls , also a few rare ones with bulls or rams heads . Also fine series of jugs with snake decoration and copper tools . All tomb chambers have collapsed but colleague from London has set up restoration department. Data is more interesting than finds. Planning on an iron age dig soon in the Famagusta district. Waiting to hear from Otago re funds.
