letter, 24/12/1936, Unsigned (Skinner) to T. Lindsay Buick, Esq., Alexander Turnbull Library, Letter in reply to [26], thanking Buick for his congratulations. Skinner mentions he believes the moa-hunter material at Otago Museum is much better than in any other museum. He invites Buick to join the party of museum staff at Waitaki, and states he has left the planning with Teviotdale who is on-site at Waitaki. Skinner suggests Buick will spend 3-4 days at the Waitaki site, travel with Teviotdale to Dunedin to discuss 'matters' with him, and then be taken to Papatowai to complete the site excavation with Teviotdale. Skinner adds that Oliver has identified nine different species in the Papatowai middens, including ingens and maximus, and that Skinner has sent Oliver two 'very damaged' pelves which he excavated himself at Little Papanui. Skinner finally adds that Buick's involvement in the moa-hunter sites is on the condition that the first publication of data from them is made by himself and Teviotdale through the Journal of the Polynesian Society. In the postscript, Skinner suggests Buick can sleep and eat with Teviotdale and George in their hut provided he makes a contribution towards food cost.
