Special Exhibition
Lasers, rainbows and magnetic nanoparticles… come and discover how they work with our latest, free family exhibition, Mighty Small, Mighty Bright.
The exhibition was created in partnership with New Zealand's leading scientific research institutes, the MacDiarmid Institute and the Dodd-Walls Centre, alongside Tūhura Otago Museum and MOTAT.
The exhibition has 12 interactive pods, and visitors can play with prisms, lenses, mirrors, filters, and magnets to get a hands-on understanding of the science of light and nanotechnology. The displays include recent technology developed in New Zealand, for example, the House of the Future where visitors can integrate new technology into a dream home.
This exhibition makes cutting-edge technology and complex science fun, interactive, and understandable for children.
Come along, play with light, and get hands-on with science!
