Among the many things that might have attracted their attention was a sample of the English Queen Mary’s own crochet-work. The Exhibition had originally hoped to display examples of needlework by members of various European royal families, but only Mary, wife and queen consort of George V of the United Kingdom, agreed to contribute.
Come along and hear about the fate of “the shawl presented by her Majesty the Queen” from Tūhura Otago Museum Curator, Humanities Moira White, who has been researching this fascinating story since about 2020.
