Quirky, unexpected, cool – these are just some of the words that could be used to describe the eclectic collection featured in this exhibition.

Special Exhibition

Quirky, unexpected, cool – these are just some of the words that could be used to describe the eclectic collection featured in this exhibition.

Pieces on display highlighted donors and objects that made a real impact on our collection. They included deer foetuses in jars, Mesopotamian cuneiform tablets, Ray Columbus's glamorous 1960s jacket, a shark-bitten surfboard and kimono donated by Dunedin's Japanese sister city, Otaru.

With the majority of donors having strong local links, this exhibition revelled in the passion for sharing stories and collection care that is essential for any museum.
