Celebrate NZ Music Month at Tūhura with an intimate performance and demonstration from one of Dunedin's most unique live acts.
Flying Man is the stage name of Irish-born singer, guitarist, and songwriter Alan Ned Gray—a musician who builds entire sonic landscapes on stage, one loop at a time. Blending programmed beats, live looping, and layered harmonies, his electroacoustic sound pairs haunting melodies and infectious rhythms with lyrics that tell stories from snapshots in time.
With a top 40 single in the Irish charts, successful tours of the US East Coast, and over 200,000 Spotify streams to his name, Alan brings a wealth of experience to an evening that promises to be as educational as it is entertaining.
This isn't just a performance; it's a peek behind the curtain. Alan will walk you through his setup, show you how the looping technology works, and even invite the audience to become part of the loop themselves.
