Broken adze (Portion of blade remaining). Cross-section is rectangular. Surface is ground on back and front, bruised on sides. Cutting edge is flaked. Butt not present. Bevel is demarcated by a line, rest of blade is broken off.
Broken adze (Butt remaining). Cross-section is oval. Surface is mostly ground, lightly flaked on sides. Large flake on back. No differentiation between butt and blade, sides taper towards poll. Blade not present.
Complete adze. The cross section is approximately rectangular. The surface is flaked, bruised and ground. There is a large, brown stain on the centre of the back. The butt is undifferentiated. The bevel is continuous with the blade. The cutting edge is uneven and blunt.
Complete adze. Plano-convex cross-section with the front flattened. The surface is bruised and flaked. There is a reduction in the stone on the sides of the butt. The bevel is continuous with the blade, and the cutting edge is curved and chipped.
Complete adze. Stone. Mid grey and dark grey. Cross-section is trapezoidal, with front narrower than back. Surface of lower blade is ground, flaked on butt. Minor differentiation between butt and blade, sides taper towards poll, and front reduced. Bevel is continuous with blade, some scratches on bevel. Cutting edge is sharp and curved, lightly chipped along cutting edge. ?Camp Hill written on front.
Complete adze Cross-section is rectangular. Surface is almost completely bruised. Tip of poll on the PL side is flaked. No differentiation between butt and blade, sides taper towards poll. Bevel is continuous with blade, blade is blunt and curved.
Complete adze Oval at poll, trapezoidal at blade with back narrower than front. Surface is ground on back and blade, with bruising elsewhere. Butt has major differentiation, with sides and front reduced and shoulders raised. Bevel is demarcated by a curved line. Cutting edge is rounded and sharp, with minor chipping. GLAM ADZE
Complete adze. Oval at poll, plano-convex (front flattened) at blade. Surface is bruised and flaked. Butt undifferentiated. Bevel is continuous with the blade. Cutting edge is rough, moderately sharp and curved with flaking.
Complete adze Asymmetrical cross-section The surface is mostly ground, with some flaking on the poll, sides and back. There is no differentiation between the butt and the blade. The sides taper towards the poll. The bevel is demarcated by a chin. The cutting edge is sharp and curved.
Complete adze. Green stone. The cross-section is trapezoidal with the back narrower than the front. The surface is mostly smooth on the blade, with some flake scars. There is some bruising on each side of the blade, and extensive bruising around the butt. There is a distinction between the butt and the blade, with two shoulders on the front, a ridge, and a reduction in the stone at the bevel. The bevel is also coarsely bruised. The bevel is straight and demarcated by a polshed ridge. The cutting edge is sharp but chipped. "801 Southland" is written near the front cutting edge.
Complete adze. Stone. Mid grey, silver. Cross-section is oval. Surface is mostly ground with some bruising on back. Undifferentiated between butt and blade, sides taper towards poll. Bevel is continuous with blade, cutting edge is sharp and curved, lightly chipped. "Kai Kai" written on front and back.
