Composite fishhook, Matau

Very large composite fishhook without a point. Wooden shank is curved with geometric carvings and two human faces near the head. Along the base, there are shark and fish, one being chased by a bird and others following a fishing lure pulled by figures in a boat. Twisted muka lashings at the point end and at the head, with a very thick plaited cord attached.
