Snare, Bird, Mutu
Complete mutu kaka (bird snare). Dark brown wood. Surface is smooth with chisel marks visible. Handle is straight with decorative notches running down one side. Knob at the handle butt, with a straight drilled perforation; a twist of wire passes through the perforation and wrapped around the knob. Perch has a reclining human figure carved at one end, legs in the air with knees bent. A diagonal perforation is drilled from the back of the figure's head to below its chin. Two small perforations are drilled at the figure's elbows. Flattened knob at the other end of the perch, the end of which curves upward at an angle.
