Pukaea, Trumpet

Complete pukaea. Small lip around proximal end mouthpiece. Sides flare towards distal end, which ends in a gaping bell-like mouth. The pukaea is manufactured from two lengths of carved wood that are fixed together by lengths of fibre. The fibre is set into indentations in the wood, so are flush with the surface. The outer surfaces of the of the mouth are carved, and they come to a point at the distal ends, one of which is significantly chipped. There are teeth-like notches around the internal mouth opening.
