Whare whakairo, Tekoteko
Complete tekoteko (gable carving). Dark brown wood carved with a human figure standing on a human head. Top figure has lower lip which curves upward and underneath lower lip in the centre. Slanted eyes. Broken nose. Proper left eyebrow has an incomplete curved grooved carving. Right arm curves upward and rests on chest, with a four-fingered hand. Left hand rests on stomach with three fingers and a thumb. Carving across figure's body is in a taratara-a-kae (zig-zag) pattern. Head figure has slanted eyes and curved geometric carvings for eyebrows. Nostrils, lips, and four teeth are depicted.
