Adze, Toki

Broken adze (fragment where blade meets butt remaining). Stone. Black, light grey. Cross-section is oval on butt side, more rectangular on blade side. Surface of blade portion is ground, bruised on butt. Minor differentiation between butt and blade, front and proper side reduced forming shoulder. Proper left side of adze has been completely ground down. Papatowai written on front and back.
