Adze, Toki

Complete adze broken into two pieces. Dark grey, mid red. Quadrangular cross-section. The surface is mostly ground, with some flaking on sides and heavy bruising on butt and front of lower blade. The front lower blade is very flaked and there is no cutting edge. Major differentiation between butt and blade, front reduced and sides taper towards poll. The bevel is smooth and continuous with the blade until a faint chin halfway up the blade. The break is at the base of the butt. Remnants of a red substance presumably used to adhere the two pieces together is evident on the broken end of both pieces.
