Adze, Toki
Large complete adze. Dark brown stone. The cross-section is trapezoidal with the back narrower than the front. The surface is mostly ground with bruising on the butt and the back of the blade. The bevel end of the blade has been broken off and glued together again, there is a large join with some loss at the join on the front right side. The butt is distinguished from the blade by a curved shoulder and a reduction in the stone on the front and sides of the butt. The poll is flaked. The bevel is demarcated by a curved chin. The cutting edge is curved and chipped.
